Preparing For a New Year! 5 Tips to Start Using Today!

Helloooo Everybody!!! How are the goals coming? Are we winning yet?

I know we’ve been focused on this year, and crushing it before we get to 2019. But, it’s time to shift gears a bit. Don’t worry. This is sure to help with ending this year off strong!

It’s time for us to start preparing for a new year. So, let me ask you a question. What do you want next year to look like? Have you thought about this? Think about how you’d like your day to be, or what promotion you want, or the lifestyle changes you want to have implemented. Can you see it? We all have different things we’re working on. Well, what does 2019 look like for you?

Here are some tips help you start preparing for a new year. Hint: you’ve already got 1 tip down. 😉

  1. Visualize Next Year
What would you like to be different? What new things have you implemented into your daily routine? What does a typical day look like? Really stop and take the time to visualize what you want your life to be like. Go ahead and take a few moments, a day, an hour…whatever you need.
  2. Reflect on This Year
Think about all the highs and accomplishments, and even all the lows and failures. Ask yourself what you’ve learned from these things. Maybe, you learned that if you stick with something long enough, you can achieve it. Maybe, you learned you need help with your eating habits. Perhaps, you’ve learned that you only workout when you put it down in your calendar and have your gym bag in the car, ready to go. Take some time to reflect on every and any little thing. The things you like, and even those you may not.
  3. Make Room for the New Year
Whatever this means to you, do it. This can mean cleaning up your wardrobe and getting rid of things you don’t absolutely love. This can also mean leaving some toxic people behind. For me, I’m trying to get my home in order. I’m getting rid of things that no longer serve my taste, painting and furnishing some rooms. And I’m starting with my office, because I work and I need that space to let my creativity and productivity flow freely (cluttered space = cluttered mind). Personally, I’m just not subscribing for this next year. Stop and think about what “making room” means for you.
  4. Update/Upgrade Your Environment
Now that you’ve rid your life of some things, it’s time to furnish replacements. If you’ve gotten rid of toxic people, you can replace with more positive, successful people. If you’ve made some changes around your home, buy some fresh new decor you like and new products that can help you keep things more organized. However you see fit, upgrade your surroundings. You’ll feel better. I promise!
  5. Do Some Soul Searching
Honestly, this goes along with the first tip. It is essential to take time to reflect on what you really want. And for me, this means seeking God and asking what He wants for me in this new season. I want to want what He wants for me. I’ve discovered He has the best plan for me. You can do this by selecting a few days to have some quiet time set aside. During this time, journal, pray, fast and just seek God. Ask for His divine wisdom and guidance as you go into this new year. And listen. He speaks to us in so many ways. Make sure you take time to hear from Him.

Bonus Tip: Start today!
Whatever you can start right now, just go ahead and do it. Waiting for the “perfect time” is really just an illusion. January 1st, as magical as it may seem, is not all that magical. It’s another day, like every other new day. So, start now. That way things will be flowing next year. Trust me. This can make all the difference for your success.

That’s it for my tips on preparing for a new year. Do you have things you like to do in preparation for a new year? Please share. I’d love to read new suggestions and other peoples strategies to kicking off the new year right! 😊
